Follow our story of adventure…

We have already been on some incredible adventures, and now we are looking forward to the next chapter.

Ski touring in Arctic Norway

Follow along with our adventures, having cruised and explored the Mediterranean to acclimatise to our new boat, within which we competed in some regattas (we’ve had the racing bug for years now) and collecting a few trophies on our way.

From there we started to explore further North, discovering the fjords and islands of Arctic Norway, where our love for Ski Touring reached new heights, with some epic adventures in the Lyngen Alps and beyond.

In 2019 we spent an incredible summer in Svalbard, reaching 80 degrees North latitude, the farthest north of any un-assisted leisure vessel that year. It was so good that we did it all over again!

We saw polar bears, amazing glaciers, and summited unnamed peaks. Following this our adventures took us across the Atlantic to the Caribbean and beyond, through the Panama Canal and to the some of the most breathtaking islands in the South Pacific.

A quick stop via the U.K. for a thorough refit prepared us for further adventures north, this time reaching Disko Bay in Greenland, picking our way between icebergs to find opportunity for some ambitious rock climbing, from the stern! Whale watching, fierce winds and unyielding conditions welcomed us for the duration of our visit.

Moving to warmer climbs, we ventured across the Atlantic once again, passing through the Panama Canal to the Pacific. Considerable challenges awaited us here too - you’ll have to read and watch along to see what we faced next - all made possible thanks to our heavily customised Oyster 885 RS, FIREBIRD.

Firebird in Svalbard

FIREBIRD is an Oyster 885 RS, built in 2016 and customised for high latitude sailing.

She has had extensive upgrades and innovations in order to take on our ambitious itinerary.

Following an extensive series of upgrades and re-configurations in 2022 FIREBIRD is taking on the next chapter of her adventures.
